The Remmers family announces with great sadness the sudden passing of Dianne Remmers on October 27, 2019. She was 76 years old. Dianne was born in Galveston, Texas to Dorothy and George Rohde. She and her sister Sandy grew up and attended school in the area. She met Fred at the University of Texas in Austin and both graduated there. They were married in 1966 and, within a few of years, moved to Dayton, Ohio, where they raised their two children, Sally and Nathan.
Dianne attended Xavier University in Cincinnati. She received a masters degree in Montessori Education and was inspired to start her own school. The school was her vocation for over 30 years. Hundreds of children benefitted from beginning their education at Montessori Children's Center.
While teaching, and even after her retirement, Dianne pursued other creative outlets as an artist. Be it watercolor, stained glass, sculpting, stone carving, spinning or weaving, Dianne always created something beautiful. She found another palette in gardening, becoming a master gardener and filling her yard and community with beauty. These many pursuits brought her a great group of friends, who shared their passion and skills with her and whom she treasured.
Throughout their 52 years of marriage, she could always count on husband Fred for encouragement and support in whatever she tried. Theirs was a marriage of love, understanding, friendship, humor, and shared efforts. She was a loving and supportive mother to Sally and Nathan, and thrilled to be a grandmother to Freddy and Thomas Mittler. She will be missed beyond measure.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Dorothy Rohde. She will be greatly missed by husband Fred, son Nathan Remmers, daughter Sally and her husband,T.G. Mittler, grandchildren Freddy and Thomas Mittler, sister Sandra and her husband, Yale Woodford, and nieces Tanya and Kerry Kloesel.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated by Fr. Ethan Moore, at 2 PM, on Saturday, November 2, 2019, at St Henry’s Chapel in Calvary Cemetery, 1625 Calvary Ave. The family will receive friends and relatives from 1 PM until the time of services.
Memorials in Dianne's honor can be made to a charity of your choosing.
