KELLOGG, Delores Jean, age 85, entered the presence of Jesus on Saturday, January 7, 2023. God called her and the love of her life home on the same day, one year apart, and now they are reunited in glory! Delores was born in Dayton, OH on February 18, 1937 and graduated from Jefferson High School in Dayton, OH.
Delores attended Bethel Temple Assembly of God most of her life, which is where she met and married the love of her life, Jay Kellogg. She also attended Northridge Assembly of God for many years and was most recently a member of Miamisburg Assembly of God.
Some of her places of employment over the years included NCR; and several CPA firms including Flagel Huber Flagel; Ernst and Young, and Kentner Sellers. She and her husband both retired in 2000.
With family being one of the most important parts of her life, she was a loyal companion to her husband and a selfless, godly mother to her children and grandchildren. Delores has lived a life of strong faith and has always been active in the church, doing whatever was needed, whether it was working in the office or teaching the young adult Sunday School class or praying for requests coming through the prayer chain. Delores loved to travel the world with her husband, and shared his enthusiasm for cars, especially Corvettes. They served together in the church choir and nursing home outreaches. Going out to breakfast and working jigsaw puzzles is how they spent a lot of their time after retirement.
Delores enjoyed monthly luncheons with her “red hat” friends. She had a great appreciation for God’s creation, including plants, birds (especially cardinals), and butterflies. The gift of hospitality flowed naturally through her, as she often used her love of cooking or her heartfelt writing to share notes and meals with others during a time of need.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Jay Clark Kellogg, Jr. and son Jay Clark Kellogg III, as well as her parents, Floyd and Mattie Wallace, two brothers and three sisters. She is survived by daughter, Maureen “Mona” Ellis and husband Bart; son, Craig Kellogg and wife Sandy; eight grandchildren, Matthew (Julianne) Ellis, Marissa (Ruben) Olivarez, Caleb Ellis, Mikaela (Austin) Myers, Laklyn Kellogg, Lauren Kellogg, Jamie (Eric) Edens, and Morgan Withrow; six great-grandchildren, Ruben Olivarez II, Quinn Ellis, Lillian Olivarez, Jay Ellis, Stella Edens and Wyatt Myers. Family will greet friends from 9:30 – 10:30 am on Wednesday, January 11, 2023, at Tobias Funeral Home - Beavercreek Chapel located at 3970 Dayton-Xenia Road. Funeral service will follow at 10:30 am. Burial in Dayton Memorial Gardens. The family would like to express our thanks for the amazing services provided by the care team at Hospice of Dayton. If desired, friends may make memorial contributions to Convoy of Hope, PO Box 1125, Springfield, MO 65801 (convoyofhope.org).
