David Jones, aged 79, left this life on February 19, 2025, after some months of illness. Dave was born to Paul and Virginia Jones in Clay County, Kentucky and joined the Army as a teenager. He served in Germany and spent nearly a year in Vietnam, though wounded several times. He met his wife, Marion, upon his return to the United States in 1967 at Valley Forge Army Hospital. They married soon after and moved to Maryland (Edgewood Arsenal) and then to Fort Knox, Kentucky. For years he was an avid racoon hunter and an active member of both the Butler County and Wayne County Coon Hunters Associations. He was a Mason, a member of the American Legion, Disabled American Veterans, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and Moose. He retired to farm life in Preble County to pursue his dream of raising horses. Dave loved bluegrass music, NASCAR, cowboy movies, car shows, and watching basketball and football.
Dave is survived by his wife, Marion, son Christopher (Amy), and grandchildren Harrison and Rebecca; brothers Sam (Sue) of Connersville, Indiana, Arlie (Diane) of Boston, Indiana; sisters Shirley of Richmond, Indiana, and Ann of Brownsburg, Indiana; many nieces and nephews and lots of friends including Greg Sheffield, Junior Jackson, Rick Napier, and Andy Armstrong.
