Dick was born in Siloam Springs, Arkansas on July 11, 1938. He died in Dayton, Ohio on March 20, 2023.
Dick received his Ph.D. in English from the University of Arkansas. He taught at Auburn University from 1977 to 1981, moving in 1981 to Dayton where he was a professor in the School of Logistics at the Air Force Institute of Technology for several years before he became Associate Dean in the School of Civil Engineering. He retired in 2009.
Dick is survived by his wife of 56 years, Cheryl; his son, Charles Wade, and daughter-in-law Kaitlee; grandchildren, William and Kara; and his Arkansas family, his brother and sister-in-law, Paul and Mona Fenno; and his sister, Jan Fenno. He was predeceased by his parents, Charles and Martha Fenno and his in laws, Robert and Wilma Barnwell.
Dick loved his Dayton home and, especially, his Washington Creek neighbors. They were wonderful to him, regularly clearing snow from his driveway or mowing the lawn.
