MORSE, Rogge Bette, was born June 14, 1922, in Dayton, Ohio and passed away peacefully at her Kettering home surrounded by her family on Tuesday, Jan. 20. Visitation and celebration of life will be held 1 to 4 p.m. Feb. 14 at Tobias Funeral Home, 5471 Far Hills Ave. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Wayne H. Morse Sr.; daughter Melissa Morse (Craig) Murakami of Kettering; son, Wayne H. (Melissa) Morse Jr. of Atlanta, Ga. and two grandsons, Tyler and Jordan Morse. Rogge Morse is a 1944 graduate of the University of Dayton and attended Northwestern and Columbia for post-graduate studies in English and drama. She received her master’s degree from UD in 1977, which is the same year she began teaching communications at UD. Rogge Morse was awarded a doctor of humane letters in 1999 from UD for her service to the university. Rogge Morse hosted the variety show “The Bette Rogge Show” from 1967 to 1977 on WHIO-TV interviewing nationally known celebrities and figures. She was inducted to the Dayton Area Broadcasters Hall of Fame in 2003 and continued her career as a broadcaster on local cable TV in the 1990s and 2000s. She was a philanthropist supporting the community she loved and her alma mater. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to UD, Hospice of Dayton or the Salvation of Army of Dayton.
