85, died peacefully on January 31, 2017 at Hospice of Dayton after a month long struggle for her health. Betty was a Native of Dayton and born on November 12, 1931 to the late Nettie (Holland) and Millard Rash. She attended Stivers High School and completed her high school course of studies at the age of 15. She was not able to graduate high school because there was no exceptions to the four year high school rule particularly for a woman.
After raising four children she went back to school and earned a BS in nursing. She had a successful career as a nurse. Upon retirement, she was an active world travel and visited all continents. Her love of travel and adventure stayed with her until her death.
Despite her professional success and traveling the world, she always took greatest pride in her family. She is survived by her loving husband -James M . Barker and her for children: Dr James E Barker, Peggy( Dave) Kish, Patricia( Frank) Dickerson, and John( Diana) Barker. There are ten(10)grandchildren and thirteen(13)great grandchildren. She lived for family and there was never a time when she wouldn't drop everything to help a member of her family.
Her faith in God was evident to all who met her. She attended Victory Temple church formerly (Fairborn Church of God) for 64 years.
There has never been a better mother on Earth and God needed the most Saintly and loved by all -Betty Frances Barker. She was a role model as a wife -mother-professional woman and Christian for all who knew her. Her family and the world has less love as a result of her joining her heavenly family.
