Amy Lee Prether passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, February 23, 2020. After a long and valiant battle, she succumbed to but was not defeated by cancer. The love of her life and caregiver Conrad Christian Heer was at her side. Amy was born in Dayton Ohio on January 7, 1963 to (Doris) Carlene Prether (Miller) and Lester Herbert Prether. She is survived by her dear mother, loving sister Leslie Ann Stricker (Prether), brother-in-law Jeffrey Merrill Stricker, nephews Joshua Lyle and Mathew Jacob, and niece Rebecca Lucille Stricker. She is preceded in death by her father. After receiving a bachelor’s degree from the University of Kentucky, she graduated with a Juris Doctorate from California Western School of Law. She practiced law in Vienna Austria for the International Atomic Energy Agency, Laurel Mississippi as a court attorney, and finally in Washington D.C. for the Social Security Administration. As branch chief for the federal government, Amy was responsible for insuring that social security applicants received fair and unbiased hearings before administrative law judges. Like her sister, Amy had a keen interest in history, particularly the Civil War. She was an accomplished ballroom dancer with Conrad, and loved to travel the world. She now rests with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Visitation will be at Tobias Funeral Home, 5471 Far Hills Ave, Dayton Ohio on Friday, February 28, 2020 from 5:00 to 7:00pm. Mass of Christian burial will be held at Incarnation Catholic Church at 7415 Far Hills Avenue, Centerville, Ohio 45459 on Saturday, February 29, 2020 at 11:00am, followed by burial at David’s Cemetery at 4600 Mad River Rd in Kettering, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to SICSA of Dayton, or Lucky Dog Animal Rescue in Arlington Virginia.
