Lyla Gilberta Alt-Oligher, age 95 passed away on April 16, 2020 in Kennewick, WA. Gilberta was born on October 16, 1924 in Reardan, WA to Joseph and Charlotte Wynecoop. She grew up in Mondovi, WA and graduated from Reardan High School in 1943 at that June married the love of her life, Victor Alt. Gilberta was the second to the youngest of six siblings and a member of the Spokane Tribe. She enjoyed playing her violin, was a member of the Reardan High School orchestra, and continued to play violin throughout her life. She lived on farms and ranches most of her life, from wheat farms north of Reardan to a cattle ranch east of Telford, WA. She had a great love for all animals, but particularly horses and was an accomplished horse women. Her interests were always in the arts from painting to classical music and once traveled to New York to enjoy a Broadway musical. Another one of her passions was travel, not only throughout the United States and Hawaii, but overseas to Europe and the Middle East. Gilberta’s love for life was exemplified in her many contributions to organizations and charities that made a difference in people’s lives. She was active in the Washington State Grange and was a teacher in the Lutheran Church. Gilberta was also PTA President at Creston, WA. Later in life she became a nurse’s aide at the Lincoln Hospital in order to help her neighbors and many other people she knew in the farming community. Gilberta is survived by her children Kay Alt, Iris Crisman, Fred Alt and Susan Hultman, twelve grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents Joseph and Charlotte Wynecoop, daughter Melba Alt, husbands Victor Alt and Cliff Oligher, sisters Pearl Marriott, Lois Schmauder and Frances Schultz, brothers David and Joseph Wynecoop. A Celebration of Life Memorial Services will be held on June 19, 2021 at 11:00 AM at the Zion Lutheran Church, 1007 Washington St., Davenport, WA with Rev. Stacey Friedlein, Officiating.
