Services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, December 13, in the Runge Mortuary Chapel. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. He will be laid to rest in Davenport Memorial Park. Memorials may be made in his honor to the University of Iowa Center for Advancement. Online condolences may be expressed at www.rungemortuary.com.
Bill was born on January 22, 1938, to Vance and Florence (Krenz) Young in Iowa City, IA. He was a 1956 graduate of Davenport High School. Bill served his country by joining the U.S. Army. On November 23, 1963, he married Yolonda Pewe and they enjoyed 46 years of marriage together until her passing in 2010.
Bill was an avid St. Louis Cardinals and Iowa Hawkeye’s fan. In his younger years he enjoyed playing fast pitch/ slow pitch softball. He enjoyed meeting for dinner and conversation with friends at Mickey’s and The Family Restaurant. He loved spending time with his friends and family, especially his granddaughter and great grandson.
Those left to cherish his memory are his sons, Scott Young and Bryan (Claudia Anderson) Young; granddaughter, Emilee Young; great grandson, William; brother, Richard Young; sister, Alberta (George) Birdsell.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Yolonda Young; and brother, Robert Young.
