Thalia I. Hesse "Toots"

Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 28, at the Runge Mortuary, followed by a funeral service at 12:00 p.m. She will be laid to rest in Davenport Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to the family. Online condolences may be expressed at www.rungemortuary.com.

Thalia was born December 23, 1937, to Bert and Hazel (Shaver) Ward in Rock Island, IL. On May 18, 1957, she married Donald L. Hesse. She worked many jobs throughout her life including bookkeeper, cook at Bettendorf Middle School, housekeeper in the laundry department at Bettendorf Healthcare Center, wrapping presents at JC Penney, which she absolutely loved, and the A&W drive-in, where she met Donald

.

Thalia was a devoted, driven woman with a deep love for her family. She could make a house a home. She enjoyed gardening, canning, baking, and making crafts. Thalia loved to socialize with her friends at the “Y” and going to visit her grandchildren in Urbana, IA.

Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Dr. Sharon H. Hesse, Kevin W. Hesse, and Dawn L. (Bill) Kuhn; sister, Edwina Swart; grandchildren, Nicole (Jeremy) and Jennifer; and great grandchildren, Kiaria, Layne, Adelyn, and Mason.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and grandson.
