Scott L. Moeller, 52, passed away Sunday, August 27, 2017 at his home surrounded by loved ones. Visitation will be held at Runge Mortuary Friday, September 8, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. Military services will be held at the National Cemetery, Rock Island. There will be a Celebration of Life immediately afterward at the Knights of Columbus hall Davenport Iowa.
His journey began July 15, 1965 in Davenport son of Richard “Dick” and Rita (Devany) Moeller.
A graduate of Central High class of 1983, he excelled at soccer and began his lifelong love of football. He was a member of the Civil Air Patrol that guided him to serve in the U.S. Air Force 1984-1988.
He married Julie Jones on September 11, 1999 and helped raise her nephew Shimone “Moe” Crump (Fairbanks, AK), although the marriage ended, they remained close friends.
An employee of Superior Tube Products for 24 years, He enjoyed his job and his work family very much. He loved Chicago Bears football, drinking coffee and riding his motorcycle. Scott was the Assistant Coordinator for Abate District 15 for many years where he earned the nickname “Hugger”
Scott was always ready to lend a hand, with a quick smile, sharp wit and warm personality; he was loved by those who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his father, older brother Dennis “Denny” Schmidt and niece Brandy Nicole Moeller. He is survived by his mother, Rita, brothers Todd (Joline) Moeller, and Rick Moeller. Nephews DeWayne (Heather) Schmidt, Daniel (Cassie) Schmidt, nieces Dawn Lipe, Jessica Moeller Waddell, Kathy Moeller Thompson, sister-in-law Carol Schmidt and special friend Loreta “Laura” O’Brien who stood by him to the end.
