Ruth Elizabeth Sharp

Ruth E. Sharp, 78, of Bettendorf; passed away Wednesday, October 9, 2024 at the Bettendorf Healthcare Center. Per her request, cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial service will be held on November 16, 2024 at 11am at St. Paul Lutheran Church. Memorials in Ruth’s name may be made to the Greyhound Rescue Association or St. Paul Lutheran Church.

Ruth was born on March 16, 1946 in Davenport, Iowa to Rollin and Vivian VanAlstine. Following high school; Ruth attended Marycrest College and earned her bachelor’s degree. She worked at the Rock Island Arsenal for 26 years as an accounting technician. Ruth enjoyed reading, crocheting, knitting, gardening, and spending time with her beloved cats and greyhounds. She was an active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church; serving with the Stephen’s Ministry and would deliver communion to those who were homebound.

Ruth is survived by her brother Rollin (Judi) VanAlstine; dear cousins Karen (David) Aaron, Geoffrey (Elizabeth) Aaron, and Kevin (Natalie) Aaron; she is also survived by two nephews and two nieces.

She is preceded in death by her parents, brother William VanAlstine, and a nephew.
