Roger Austin Murray

A Funeral Service will be held at 12:00 P.M. on Monday, July 10, 2023 in The Runge Mortuary Chapel with visitation starting at 10:00 A.M. until service time. Memorials may be made in his honor to The Dementia Society of America. He will be laid to rest and reunited with the love of his life Marlene in Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. Roger was born October 27, 1933 in Davenport, Iowa to Horace and Velma (Johnson) Murray. He served in The United States Air Force during the Korean War. Upon returning to the United States he met his future wife Marlene Lind in Denver Colorado. They were united in marriage on March 20, 1955 in Eaton Colorado. They enjoyed 68 years of marriage until her passing in February of 2023.

In 1957 he became a career firefighter for the city of Davenport. During his time off he and his father owned and ran Murray Cabinet and Supply Shop. Roger enjoyed amateur radio, working on cars and spending time with his family.

Those missing him dearly include his loving children; son, Mark (Maureen) Murray; daughter Susan Murray both of Davenport; grandchildren, Kristy Ramos and Lisa (Randy Jr.) Perkins both of Davenport; great grandchildren, Amber, Olivia, Lillian, Alisha, Miguel, and Jordan.

Roger was preceded in death by his parents; infant sons, Charles A. and William E. Murray and sister Sheila Foley.
