Robert “Bob” Sanders, 87, of Davenport passed away Thursday, October 19, 2023 at the Good Samaritan Society Davenport. Cremation will be done with a memorial service to be held 10:00am Thursday, October 26, 2023 at the Runge Mortuary & Crematory. Burial of ashes will follow at Pine Hill Cemetery Davenport, IA. Bob was born January 19, 1936 in Davenport, IA to Dale & Alma (Humble) Sanders. He served in the US Marine Corps from 1956 to 1959. He had been employed at the Rock Island Arsenal for 38 years retiring as the Small Arms Logistics General Manager. After retirement he worked for V.J. Neu Oldsmobile and Green Thumbers Florist for several years before his second retirement.
Bob was an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan, especially football and women’s basketball, he enjoyed old western movies, golfing, and was known as a car guy who loved his Corvettes & Cadillac’s. With a strong athletic background, Bob was also very active in coaching his kids and others in football & baseball, teaching them life lessons.
Bob is survived by his Daughter Kim (Steve) Reising, San Deigo, CA; Sons Brett (Arnita) Sanders, Davenport, IA and Troy (Cynthia) Sanders, Summerfield, FL; Granddaughter Breanna Reising; Great Grandchildren Liam & Madison Rosario; sisters Tonya Batten, Eldridge, IA and Sue Williams, Rock Island, IL; and several nieces & nephews.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents and step mother Lois Sanders.
