Robert Charles Poppe

Robert C. Poppe, 90, of Blue Grass passed away Thursday, January 13, 2011 in Blue Grass. Funeral services will be held Monday, January 17, 2011 10:00 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Davenport. Visitation will be held Sunday from 3-5 p.m. at the church. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. Robert was born August 10, 1920 in Davenport, Iowa the son of Walter and Lovona (Lage) Poppe. He was united in marriage to Henrietta Ewoldt February 22, 1948 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Davenport, Iowa.

Robert was a lifelong farmer in Northeast Davenport.

He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Plus 60 Club, and former 15 year member of Blue Grass Lions Club.

Those left to honor his memory include his loving wife, Henrietta, daughter, Ruth (Kim) Swab, sons Mark (Sharyl) Poppe, David (Kat) Poppe, Alaska, sisters, Ruby Paustian, and Ethel Arp, Eldridge, brother Loyd (Helen) Poppe; grandchildren Eric (Jennifer) Swab, Ft. Collins, CO; Lisa Swab, Ankeny; Kara and Steven Poppe, Davenport; sister-in-law Carol Ewoldt, Davenport, many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by parents, sister, Irma Poppe, brothers-in-law, Harry Arp, Herbert Paustian and Russell Ewoldt.
