Robert "Rob" L. Fortney

Robert “Rob” L. Fortney, 61, of Iowa City, Iowa, formerly of the Quad Cities; passed away on Saturday, September 25, 2021 at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf. Per his request, cremation rites have been accorded and private services held. He will be inurned at the Rock Island National Cemetery.

Rob was born on October 26, 1959 in Davenport, Iowa to James and Sharon (Harris) Fortney. He enlisted in the United States Army and served for over two years. Rob owned and operated his own “Lawn and Landscape” business for several years. He then worked in maintenance at Trinity Hospital for fifteen years before he moved to Des Moines where he worked for Big Barn Harley Davidson. Rob also enjoyed going fishing and kayaking.

Those left to honor his memory are his son Jerimy; his mother Sharon; sister Susan (John) Rost of Montgomery, IL; brother Christopher (Darcy) of Iowa City, Iowa; granddaughter Marilyn Rose of East Moline, IL; aunt Roberta (Wayne) Doyle of Mackeyville, PA; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father James and a great-nephew.
