Raymond “Ray” or his nickname “Dugan” Farrell, 86, of Davenport, IA, passed away Tuesday, November 9, 2021 at Genesis East Medical Center. A Memorial Service will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 20, 2021, at Legacy Baptist Church in Davenport (4823 Jersey Ridge Rd). Arrangements were entrusted to Weerts Funeral Home in Davenport. Ray was born August 1, 1935, to Paul and Florence (Chapman) Farrell in Davenport. On June 29, 1958, he was united in marriage to Delores Neumann in Rock Island. Ray worked with John Deere for over 25 years, until retirement. Ever since the age of 12, he loved fishing, and even continued this tradition with his oldest grandson, Marcus, starting him at the age of 14. Ray also sang and played guitar along with various other instruments in country and western bands, which is how he met his wife – Delores, playing at the Subway in Bettendorf when he was 22. He was very talented in skeet shooting and won the state championship 5 years in a row, for both Iowa and Illinois. Ray and his wife were faithful members to Legacy Baptist Church.
Ray will be missed by his wife of 63 years, Delores; children: Martin (Bernadette) Farrell and Lisa Farrell; grandchildren: Marcus (Haley) Lynam and Matthew Farrell; his great grandson: Maxwell Cody Lynam; and a brother, Jim Farrell. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers: Robert and Ron Farrell; and a sister, Linda Hopper.
