Mary F. Ross, 89, of Davenport, passed away Wednesday, November 18, 2015 at Ridgecrest. Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 20, 2015 at 10:30 am at St. John’s United Methodist Church in Davenport. Visitation will be Friday from 9:30 until the service at 10:30 am at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the church or AAUW (American Association of University Women). Mary was born December 2, 1925 in Granger, MO; the daughter of Rex and Belle (O’Day) Sample. She was united in marriage to Cecil Ross in 1948 in Granger, MO; he preceded her in death. She was a graduate of Northeast Missouri State University and a former teacher. Mary was a member of St. John’s United Methodist Church. She served as a past president of the American Association of University Women and was a member of St John’s United Methodist Women, League of Women Voters, Wilson PTA, 89’ Club, Service Circle of King’s Daughters and Sons and the Ruth Circle. In her free time, Mary enjoyed reading, embroidery, sewing, music and cheering for her favorite teams on tv. Those left to honor her memory include her children and spouses: Michele Ross (Lee Spitler), Acworth, GA; Marla Snider, Davenport, IA; Melinda (Garry) Rudish, Davenport and Kevin (Tam) Ross, Garden Grove, CA; grandchildren: Staci (Brian) Nielsen, Ben Snider, Emily Rudish, John, James, Joseph and Joanna Ross; great grandchildren: Jalen and Kylie Morrow and Isaac Hansel; sister, Maxine Lancaster; brother, John Sample; and nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Mary was preceded in death by brothers: Hilbert, Robert and Hilton and sisters, Maevis and Merle.
