Mary E. Dailey, 84, of Davenport, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 7, 2022 at Senior Star. Memorial service will be held Friday, October 14, 2022 at 10am at Weerts Funeral Home; visitation will begin at 9am. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be left to the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI).
Mary was born February 3, 1938 in Davenport, IA to William and Carmela Martin. Mary graduated from Davenport High in 1956 and attended Marycrest College and Scott Community College. Mary was united in marriage to Carl W. Dailey on October 19, 1974 in Las Vegas. Mary enjoyed assisting many people at the Scott County Treasurer’s Office for 25 years, retiring in 2000. Mary loved her house above the Mississippi River where she enjoyed watching the boats and barges go by. Mary loved music and enjoyed playing her clarinet and piano. Mary was an avid ballroom dancer and belonged to the Varsity Dance Club. Mary participated in the annual 5K NAMI walk-a-thon for many years.
Mary always looked at the bright side of things. She loved to cook for her family and sought to bring them together around the table as often as she was able.
Survivors include her children Sue (Dennis) Zuber, Carol (Robert) Lauder, David (Christie) Swanson, Martin Swanson, Joseph Swanson, and Steven Swanson; 8 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; 2 brothers Robert (Mona) Martin and William (Julie) Martin; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Michael Martin, husband Carl, and son Donald Swanson Jr.
