Mary Ann E. Parker, 78, of Davenport, passed away Monday, February 17, 2014 at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City. A funeral mass will be held at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Davenport on Friday, February 21, 2014 at 10:00 am. Visitation will be Thursday from 5-8 pm at The Runge Mortuary. She was born April 26, 1935 in Davenport; the daughter of Leonard and May (O’Neil) Balzer. Mary Ann was united in marriage to David Parker on December 29, 1956 in Bettendorf. She was a devoted homemaker and enjoyed reading, cooking, gardening, especially flower gardening and spending time with her family. She was member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church. Those left to honor her memory include her husband of 57 years, David; her children: Mary Katherine Parker, East Moline, IL; James M. Parker, Lowden, IA; William G. Parker, Davenport and Robert C. (Lisa D.) Parker, Davenport; eight grandchildren; one great grandchild; sisters: Joanne Mizlo, Arlington, TX and Barbara Maday, Tucson, AZ and her brother, John Balzer, Chillicothe, IL. She was preceded in death by her parents, sons, Joe and Tommy and brothers: Leonard, Mike, Jerry and Ed.
