Mark E. Dawson

Mark E. Dawson, 67, of Blue Grass, IA formerly of Muscatine, IA passed away on Sunday, April 29, 2018 at his residence following a courageous battle with Multiple Sclerosis. A memorial service open house will be held from 1:00 - 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 27th at the Blue Grass American Legion, 106 S. Juniata Street, Blue Grass, IA.

Mark Edward Dawson was born on October 23, 1950 in Decatur, IL, the son of Kent and Bettye (Dillow) Dawson. He graduated from Lovington High School in 1968, and continued his education at the University of Mississippi and Wabash Valley Junior College. He graduated from Parsons College in 1972. Mark married Teddie Herrington on June 14, 1976 in Lovington, IL. They were later divorced. On April 23, 1983, he married Carla Tracy in Wyoming, IA. Mark worked as a car salesman in the surrounding areas for many years prior to his retirement in 2008. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals, Chicago Bears, and Fighting Illini fan. He also enjoyed watching NASCAR.

He is survived by Wife: Carla Dawson of Blue Grass; Mother: Bettye Dawson of Columbia, MO; Daughters: Cassie (Megan Carchman) Dawson of Nashville, TN, Brittany Dawson of Blue Grass; Brothers: Mike Dawson of Carmel, IN, Mitch (Teresa) Dawson of Columbia, MO; Grandson: Gryffin Dawson.

The family would like to extend a special thank-you to nurse Teresa Green from Genesis VNA for all of her care and compassion that she gave to Mark and to his family.
