Lois, daughter of George and Edna (Berhow) Riekens Sr., was born in Belmond, IA. On April 6, 1941. She graduated from Belmond High School. As an adult, Lois relocated to the Quad Cities where she worked at, and later retired from, the Rock Island Arsenal. It was during her time in the Quad Cities where she met the love of her life, Thomas L. Yeager. Lois and Tom blended their families on September 10, 1971. They spent many happy years in the Quad Cities before retiring to Texas in 2000 to enjoy the warmer weather, travel in their RV and golf together.
Lois is survived by her children; Kenneth (Lois) Mehus, Michael (Lynnie) Mehus, Timothy (Jaime) Mehus, Thomas (Sherri) Mehus, William (Maria) Yeager and Bradley (Peggy) Yeager. She is also survived by her grandchildren; Shannon Brown, Jonathon Mehus, Rachel Mehus, Daniel Good, Shana Good, Hayley Mehus, Kaitlynn Mehus, Garrett Mehus, Carissa (Jason) Orcutt, Courtney Mehus, Christopher Yeager, Victor Yeager, Danielle (Daniel) O’Neill and Austin Yeager, brother George (Janice) Reikens Jr. and her 13 great-grandchildren.
Lois was preceded in death by her parents, a grandson, Warren Michael Mehus, her “sweetie” Thomas, her grandparents, uncles, aunts and cousins.
Lois will be laid to eternal rest alongside her sweetie during a private burial service to be held at the Rock Island Arsenal National Cemetery, in Rock Island Illinois, at a later date.
Lois will always be remembered as a beautiful, strong, witty, kind-hearted person. She was a loving wife and mother, a phenomenal grandmother & great-grandmother and a true friend to all. She is greatly loved and will be missed tremendously.
