Larry Lazelle Armstrong Sr., age 84, of Davenport, Iowa passed away on Sunday, January 7, 2024 surrounded by his family. Visitation services will take place on Monday, January 15 at 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday, January 16 at 10 a.m. Funeral service will take place Tuesday, January 16 at 11 a.m. with burial to follow at Davenport Memorial Park. Larry was born December 18, 1939 in Mystic, Iowa to Glen and Ethel (Elliot) Armstrong. Larry was active in the Army from 1963 to 1965 and inactive, Reserves, for another two years. Larry and Alice (Long) united in marriage on July 16, 1966 in Unionville, Missouri. She preceded him in death on June 3, 2020. Larry was a Welder for John Deere for 22 years, retiring in 1999.
Larry enjoyed hunting, fishing, and scratching his lottery tickets. Larry and Alice would host an annual fish fry that has now become a tradition that his family will continue on in his memory.
Survivors include his children, Danny (Doris), Linda (Mike), Larry Jr. (Donna), Glenn (Carla), Dorothy (Fran), and Todd (Becky); 24 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren; and two brothers, Kenny (Lavona) and Ed (Shirley).
Larry was preceded in death by his loving wife Alice, his parents and 7 brothers and sisters.
