Lance Daniel Baker, 46, of Davenport passed away on Thursday, December 22, 2016 at his home. A celebration of life will be from 4:00 to 5:00 pm on Friday, January 13, 2017 at the Runge Mortaury. Online condolences may be expressed at www.rungemortuary.com.
Lance was born on September 20, 1970 in Davenport, IA the son of Allen F. and Jacqueline E. (Timmerman) Baker. He graduated from West High School class of 1989, went to Scott Community College receiving his associate degree. He attended the University of Northern Iowa graduating with a degree in political science. Lance loved history and politics and once ran for a seat on the Davenport City Council.
Lance always had a smile on his face. He was a sensitive, creative person who loved drawing, painting and writing poetry, with several publications. He was an advocated for mental health in the Quad Cities and the state of Iowa. Serving on Governor of Iowa’s Developmental Disabilities Council, a current member of Disability Rights Iowa Board and NAMI, Greater Mississippi Valley.
Among those to honor his memory are brothers: Gary (Marlene) Baker, Princeton, IA, Jeff Baker, Des Moines, IA, Shawn Baker, Davenport, IA, and Bruce Baker, Davenport, IA; sisters, Sherry Daurer, Princeton, IA and Lisa Diaz, Walcott, IA; six nephews and five nieces and special friends, Alice Thiemann and Lynn Gunnare.
Lance was preceded in death by his parents, Allen and Jacqueline Baker, brother, Roger Baker and sisters, Kathleen Rafferty and Cindy Baker.
