Judith “Judy” C. Crispin, 79, of Davenport, Iowa passed away unexpectedly on Friday, September 9, 2022 at her home. A funeral service to celebrate her life will be held on Friday, September 16, 2022 at 2pm at Weerts Funeral Home; a visitation will be held from 12pm until the time of service. Memorials in Judy’s name may be made to St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, Alzheimer's Association or to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
Judy was born on July 2, 1943 to Harry "Red" and Florabelle "Billie" Currier in Fort Dodge, Iowa. She was united in marriage to Charles “Chuck” Crispin on January 16, 1974 in Davenport, Iowa. She was a lifelong member of St. Mark Lutheran Church. She spent the last 33 years working as Chuck's business partner at "Popcorn Charlie" and Company, where the regular customers and employees affectionately called her "Momcorn." She retired recently due to memory difficulties she was experiencing due to onset of dementia.
One of her favorite pastimes was hunting for "treasures" at estate sales. She had several collections of collections, including cookbooks (which she loved to read, even though she rarely used them to cook), salt & pepper shakers, depression glass (which reminded her of the coin toss games at the carnival in her childhood), local glass milk bottles, Christmas teacups and various pretty dishes and knicknacks.
She looked forward to special occasions like the family's annual "last" weenie roast at Scott County Park every fall and Mother's day she would ride along while her son picked asparagus from the rural ditches.
Above all she loved spending quality time with her family, especially her grandsons.
Those left to honor her memory are her husband of 48 years, Chuck; her sons John and Ryan (Laura); grandsons Aidan and Brendan; and her brothers Harry Currier and Jerry (Maureen) Currier.
She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Amy, and son Matthew.
