John Arthur Kepler, 98, of Dahinda, IL, formerly of Bettendorf, IA, passed away February 1, 2016. A committal service will be held at 3 pm, Saturday, February 6, 2016 at the Runge Mortuary. Mr. Kepler was born October 4, 1917 in Hanna City, IL, to Frank and Lulu (Brandt) Kepler and was a 1935 graduate of Farmington (IL) High School. On August 31, 1940 he married Betty Kathryn Couch. She preceded him in death on May 14, 1974.
Mr. Kepler was a retired toolmaker from Caterpillar in 1980, having worked in both East Peoria and Davenport. He also farmed in Elkland, MO. Following his retirement, he enjoyed making wooden toys, watching activities, especially with wildlife at the lakeside and visiting with his family.
Survivors include daughter Janet (Mike) Strader; grandchildren Susan (Neil) Smith, Sean (Lisa) Strader; two great grandchildren, John and Kristen Strader; daughter-in-law Carol Kepler; brother-in-law Jim (Berniece) Couch;
several nieces and nephews, their families and friends. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by son Larry, his parents, brother and sisters.
