John was born in Mississippi on May 23, 1946, son of John Jones and Alice Greer. He married Ethel Lee Greer in Memphis, Tn. She died in 1999.
John enjoyed spending time with his children and preparing fish for the family fish fry. His hobbies included fishing with friends, being a great chess player, and riding his bike.
Survivors include daughters: Betty Rogers, Nikii Greer, Tarmeka (Ruben) Aguilar, Cayuana (Jerard) Hansen, Renee (Corey) Alexander, and DeShawn Greer; sons: Bobby (Barbara) Greer, David Greer Sr., and Ronnie Greer Sr., Bova Greer Sr.; all of Davenport, IA. John also has 34 grandchildren and 44 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ethel Lee Greer; son, John (Brick) Greer, Jr.; and two granddaughters, Shawna Greer and Teonna Greer.
