Jeanne A. McGuire, 98, of Bettendorf, Iowa passed away at The Vistas of Bettendorf on Tuesday, November 19, 2024 with her family by her side. A memorial service to honor her memory will be held on Saturday, November 23, 2024 at 11:00 AM at the Grandview Baptist Church; visitation will be before the service starting at 10:00 AM. Memorials in Jeanne’s name may be made to Steph’s Tribe at www.stephstribe.com, a charity organized in memory of Jeanne's late granddaughter, Stephanie Gorsh supporting individuals and families impacted by cancer within the Quad Cities.
Jeanne was born on February 19, 1926 to Joseph and Lillian Schlabach in Canton, Ohio. Following high school, Jeanne went on to become a Registered Nurse and worked at St. Luke’s Hospital for several years. She was united in marriage to Bill McGuire on January 3, 1947; he preceded her in passing. Jeanne was active in her community; she volunteered at the ImpactLife Blood Center and logged over 2700 hours from 1999-2012. She was a long-time member at Grandview Baptist Church. She served as a short-term missionary in Liberia and for two years in Russia. Jeanne also enjoyed spending time outside hiking with the Blackhawk Hiking Club. She loved doing jigsaw puzzles, crossword puzzles, and word searches to help keep her mind sharp and to pass the free time. Jeanne loved to travel across the United States and the world. She and Bill retired to Colorado and they loved the mountain view.
Those left to honor her memory are her children Mike (Kate) McGuire, Peg (Rich) Wiebler, Jim (Beth) McGuire, Jeff (Shelley) McGuire, and Tom (Rebecca) McGuire; she is also survived by 13 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 34 years, Bill; her parents; daughter-in-law Jill McGuire; granddaughter Stephanie Gorsh, great-grandson Jude Tharp, and brother Kenneth Schlabach.
