Jane Alice Magnusson, 83, of Bettendorf, Iowa passed away November 12, 2024, at the Fountains Retirement Community in Bettendorf. Funeral services will be at the First Presbyterian Church in Davenport on Friday, November 22, 2024 following with graveside services at Davenport Memorial Park. Memorials in Jane’s memory can be made to the First Presbyterian Church.
Jane was born on January 26, 1941, in Chicago (Park Ridge), Illinois to Alfred and Alice E. Knutson Magnusson. Jane attended Davenport Public Schools graduating from Davenport Central High School. She attended Parsons College in Iowa earning a degree in Elementary Education. Jane had a true love for teaching. She began her career in Cedar Rapids, then returning to her hometown of Davenport to teach at Grantwood Elementary School in Bettendorf, and then at Paul Norton Elementary School, also in Bettendorf, where she taught for the remainder of her teaching career.
She grew up attending and being part of The First Presbyterian Church in Davenport of which she remained a member for her lifetime. There she served as a Deacon and was actively involved in the Music Ministry.
Jane adored her dachshunds of which she had many throughout her life. She loved travelling abroad, a variety of music, attending symphony and musical theatre. The children she taught and watched over brought her great joy and a sense of accomplishment. Jane was a loving and caring daughter, sister, aunt and friend, and will be missed by all.
Jane is survived by her family, sister-in-law, Nancy Magnusson Helder, of Cypress, Texas: nephew, Thomas Magnusson (Dana), of Cypress, Texas; nieces, Laura Kenney (Eric) Jamestown, of New York, and Sarah Adamcik (Kennard) of Cypress, Texas: Rebecca and Michael Ferris and their four daughters, Grace, Anna (Alex), Lydia, and Cecily of Davenport, Iowa.
Remaining to mourn her loving family are her many good and faithful friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Donald A. Magnusson.
