James “Jim” R. Fisher, 87 of Le Claire, IA passed away on Saturday, April 23, 2022 at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday April 27, 2022 at Wilton Cemetery. Those who wish to attend should arrive at Weerts Funeral Home no later than 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday. Memorials may be left to Clarissa C. Jim was born on July 24, 1934 in Elkhart, IN to Aubrey and Sarah (Gross) Fisher. He graduated from Sidney High School in the class of 1952. Jim proudly enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1952 and served until 1956. He married Peggy Alm on October 31, 1954. They later divorced. Jim married Paulette Hansen on June 22, 1979 in Wilton, IA. Jim started his career in electronics with Magnavox in Fort Wayne, IN, then moved on to Hathaway Instruments in Denver, CO. He owned and operated Utility Systems Incorporated from 1988-1998.
Jim loved music and sharing his favorites, including Roy Orbison, Hank Snow, Lacey J. Dalton and Mantovani. He was a family man who loved visiting and sharing his many entertaining stories with both close and extended family, and who took particular joy in his eight grandchildren and one great grandchild. Jim was a man of many talents, who personally built two of his homes. He had a passion for cars, and loved Larry Bird, basketball, football, science and astronomy.
Survivors include his loving wife, Paulette; children, Rebecca (Gary) Rosenberg, Elizabeth (Bradley) Mink, Diane (Jeff) Velma Fisher-Brown, Kathleen (John) Fitzgerald and Sean (Dr. Melissa Busovsky-McNeal) McNeal; grandchildren, James C. (Isabelle Murray) Mink, Dr. Marissa (Dr. Jocelyn) Rosenberg, Jeffrey Mink, Mark Rosenberg, Daniel (Karissa) Brown, Alyssa (Tyler) Penrod, Eoin Fitzgerald and Delaney Fitzgerald; great grandchild, Rosemary Willa Brown and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings, Velma Kohler, Eugene Fisher, Irene Felt, Helen Scott, John Fisher, Maxine Whiteside and Vivian Guy.
