A gathering to celebrate the life of James “Jim” L. Brenner, 76, of Bettendorf will be held from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. on Sunday at Cunnick-Collins Mortuary in Davenport. Per his wishes, cremation rites have been accorded. Mr. Brenner passed away on Friday, February 19, 2016 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. James Lee Brenner was born on July 5, 1939 in Beach Grove, IN, the son of Virgil and Helen (Schroeder) Brenner. He graduated from LeClaire High School in 1957. On August 22, 1959, he married Frances Mandelko. Jim worked as a process programmer for Caterpillar until his retirement in 1990. In addition to being a Little League Baseball coach, Jim bowled on the PBA Tour for 20 years. He enjoyed playing cards with friends, but most importantly spending time with his family. Jim never missed a school or sporting event for his children or grandchildren. He is survived by his Wife: Fran Brenner; Daughters: Eileen (Jorge) Gomez, Karen Brenner; Sons: Brian Brenner, Kevin Brenner, Steve (Michelle) Brenner, Mike (Tania) Brenner; Nieces: Jill, Jodi; Nephews: John, Scott; 8 Grandchildren and 6 Great-Grandchildren. In addition to his grandparents and parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Jacqueline Smith Schwenke and Barbara Hansen. Memorials may be directed to the family.
