Services will be Friday, August 5, 2022 at 11 am at the Harvest Time Family Worship Center, 636 West Kirkwood in Davenport. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service, at the church. Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery. Memorials may go to the family. Online condolences may be left at rungemortuary.com.
Irma was born December 11, 1934 in Joliet, IL, the daughter of John and Katie (Dove) McGowan. She married Jack A. Waters, Jr., in 1955 in Joliet, IL. He preceded her in death on July 8, 2001.
While in Joliet, Irma drove school bus for Crawford Bus Service, worked in laundry service and at Eagles Grocery. She graduated from the Wilton Cake Decorating School in Chicago. Her lifelong career was as a seamstress. and she worked in a bridal store along with making numerous wedding and bridesmaid dresses for her family She moved to this area in 1974 and continued on as a foster parent. In her free time, she enjoyed vegetable gardening, knitting and cooking. She was a member of the Harvest Time Family Worship Church where she was very active. She also served as Pastor Lee’s aide.
Survivors include children and spouses: Norman (Teresa) Waters, Gary (Stephanie) Waters, and Yolanda Waters, all of Davenport, 11 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and extended family members. In addition to her parents and husband, Irma was preceded in death by sons, James and Terry and siblings: Carey McGowan, Otis McGowan, Henry McGowan, Wheatley McGowan, Hugh McGowan, Dewit McGowan, Ethel Chandler, Ruby McGowan and Lorraine Major.
