Edward M. Burke, 82, of Davenport, Iowa passed away on Friday, August 30, 2024 at Genesis East Medical Center. A memorial service to honor his life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 6, 2024 at Weerts Funeral Home, with a time of sharing to follow. Ed was born on May 20,1942 in Davenport, IA to Edward and Mabel (Johnson) Burke. He attended St. Ambrose Academy and graduated from Assumption High School in 1960. Ed proudly served in the Army National Guard. He was united in marriage to Judith LeSage on April 18, 1964 in Moline, IL. She preceded him in death on January 8, 2023. Ed owned and operated Burke Plumbing and Heating for 12 years and worked as an area plumber for over 40 years. He was a member of Plumbers and Pipefitters Local Union 25.
Ed enjoyed traveling with his wife Judy. They made several trips to China to visit their son Vince and wife Jenny. They would spend winters in Arizona and traveling throughout the United States. Ed enjoyed coaching youth sports including, softball, baseball, and football.
Those left to honor his memory are his children Dan (Julie) Burke, Kelly (Randy) Witcraft, and Vince (Jenny) Burke; grandchildren: Alec, Maggie, Ryan, Vincent, and Anna and sister, Conny (Marty) Schroeder.
Ed was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Judy, grandson, Colin Witcraft, and sister, Nancy Claire.
