Dorothy E. Marten, 96, of Eldridge, formerly of rural Donahue died on Saturday, October 12, 2024 at Grand Haven in Eldridge. Funeral services celebrating her life will be at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, October 18, 2024 at Weerts Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. until time of service. Burial will follow at Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the estate of Dorothy Marten.
Dorothy was born on September 11, 1928 in Clinton County, Iowa the daughter of John and Hilda (Wieck) Fischer. She married Elmer Marten on December 7, 1946 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Davenport.
Dorothy and Elmer farmed in Scott County until Elmer's death in 1985. They enjoyed ballroom dancing and traveling during their 39 years of marriage. Dorothy was a previous member of the Davenport Elks, Ladies of the Moose Club and Plus 60 Club.
Those left to honor her memory include her children, Karen (John) Moran of Maple Valley, Washington; Connie Johnson, Missouri City, Texas; David (Donna) Marten, Asotin, Washington; Debbie (Richard) Graczkowski, Holly Springs, North Carolina; Christie (Matt) Liske of rural Donahue; Penny (Doug) Guenther of Bettendorf; Peggy Russo of Eldridge; seventeen grandchildren and twenty five great-grandchildren.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Elmer, daughter, Sharon, infant grandson, Adam Keller, son-in-law, Robert, four sisters and two brothers.
