David Michael Macias, 70, of Davenport passed away Wednesday, June 21, 2017 at Select Specialty Hospital. Funeral services will be on Tuesday, June 27, 2017 at 11:00 am at Our Lady of Victory, Davenport. Visitation will be from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Monday, June 26, 2017 at the Runge Mortuary. Memorials may be made to the family. Online condolences may be expressed at www.rungemortuary.com. He was born on November 13, 1946 in Davenport to Peter and Marguerite (Conchola) Macias. He was united in marriage to Frances Quijas on July 23, 1966 in Davenport. Dave and Fran owned Rudy’s Tacos North from 1979 to 2008. Dave was very active in the lives of his three children. He coached Tahsha and Tonya in softball from 4th grade thru high school. Dave owned and operated the softball complex out by West Lake and he was vital in bringing ASA to the local area. Over the years, Dave not only coached his daughters but also many other talented female athletes. Dave was a successful wrestler at Davenport Central High School. He was able to pass his knowledge of wrestling on to his son, Manuel, and eventually to his grandson. In recent years, Dave could often be found at his grandchildren’s many activities. He was very proud of all of their accomplishments. Dave was a huge fan of the Chicago Bears and Cubs. He also loved the Iowa Hawkeyes and many will remember all the Hawkeye bus trips and the great times that were had. Dave was an avid golfer. He enjoyed his weekly tee time and many golf outings. Bowling was another favorite pastime of Dave’s and he was proud to have once bowled a perfect game. Those left to honor his memory include his loving wife of 50 year, Fran; children: Tahsha Fording, Tonya Black and Manuel (Lori) Macias; eight grandchildren; two great grandchildren, father, Peter and two sisters, Mary Charlton and LeighAnn Reitz. He was preceded in death by his mother.
