Dave was a self-proclaimed “geek” who, like a curious child, always had to take apart gadgets he found just to see how, or if, he could make them work. As a kid, he would deliberately get in trouble so his mom would send him to the basement, where all the “cool stuff” was kept. He was a fun-loving guy and lived for his family and friends. Dave’s sense of humor and booming laugh will be remembered most.
He is survived by his wife, Susan; son, Jared; daughter, Sydney; stepsons, Robert “Bobby” Johnson and Alejandro Acierto; and his mother, Jean Helton. He is also survived by his sister, Diane Cantu; brothers, Mike and Mark Helton; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Virgil E. Helton.
Dave’s family would like to thank his “Team of Angels,” Anne, Brenda, Linda and Lisa, and a special “thank you” to Tim and James. Memorials may be made to the family for his daughter’s future education.
A memorial service to celebrate Dave’s life will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 8, at Faith United Methodist Church, 3322 W. Lombard St., Davenport. Online condolences may be left at www.rungemortuary.com.
