Mr. Hobart was born August 2, 1924 in Kansas the son of Glenn Lewis and Minnie Mae (Hoffmier) Hobart. He served in the United States Navy on the USNS Mission San Gabriel, discharged on December 8, 1945. On September 13, 1947 he married Emma Wiggins in Davenport. She preceded him in death in 2008.
He was employed for 33 years at Blackhawk Foundry in Davenport, retiring in 1986 as a molder and cupola operator.
He was dedicated to his family and loved playing with the grandchildren. He was a master gardener and everyone stopped to look at his vegetables and flowers. He and Emma enjoyed fishing on the Wisconsin lakes with the kids and bicycling with friends on the Davenport Bike path for many years. He was an avid Hawkeye fan. Everyone enjoyed his sense of humor and he made us laugh even in the last weeks of his life. He would want to thank all of the wonderful nurses, aides, and other staff at the Davenport Lutheran Home who were always there with a kind word and a hug. He is happy to be reunited with Emma.
Survivors include sons Glenn Hobart (Mary Kay), Scott (Becky) Hobart, and daughter Susanne Hobart (Charley) Leslein; eight grandchildren: Amy, Chad, Cody, Jenifer, Carl (C.J.), Craig, Cara, and Cori; eight great grandchildren: Jessica, Megan, Nicholas, Zachary, Lucas, Peyton, Maxwell, and Caden; and two sisters Rosa Lee and Shirley(Lloyd) Krull.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, and a sister.
