Bessie Lee Foster

Mrs. Bessie L. Foster, known by many as "Mother Foster', slipped quietly into the rms oh her Savior on Wednesday, December 11, 2024. She was born in North Little Rock, Arkansas to the parentage of Mr. Oze; and Allie Young-McAllister. She graduated from high school in 1953 and left Arkansas to pursue a career in food service and food service management. Upon arriving in Davenport, Iowa she met and married Mr. Tommy Foster. To this union seven children were born: Marion Elaine, Keith, Denise, Jessie, Tonetta, Tommy, and Alicia. Five of whom preceded her in death.

As the last of her family members she was also preceded in death by her parents and her sisters Lillie McCallister-Davis, Elizabeth McCallister, Velma McCallister-Larkin, Mary McCallister-Hatley and one brother A.C. McCallister, as well as a loving niece and nephew, Flora Mae McCallister and Robert Hatley, Jr.

She is survived by her two daughters: Denise Foster (Dallas, TX) and Jessie Foster (Waterloo, IA). Others who are left to cherish fond memories are her nine grandchildren: Shawna Johnson (Lancaster, TX), Larry Johnson Jr. (Dallas, TX), Jyllian Manning (Dallas, TX), Latricia Foster (Austin, TX), Andrew Johnson (Aurora, CO), Marsakis Sherrod (St. Louis, MO), Anna Selser-Bryant (Wayne Jr.) (Atlanta, GA), Zachary Pope (Orlando, FL) and Andrea Sherrod (St.Louis, MO) and a loving host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends who will miss her dearly.
