Born on Christmas Day, 1926, Arlene's life was a testament to her unwavering spirit and her love of life. Arlene graduated from Davenport High School in 1946 and married Albert Kall in 1948. Together, they had two children and built a life filled with love and hard work. When Albert passed away after only eight years of marriage, Arlene persevered, determined to provide for her family. She broke barriers in her community, becoming the first female stockbroker in Iowa and working for King Merritt Company in Davenport. Her tenacity and drive were an inspiration to all who knew her.
In addition to her work, Arlene was active in her community, teaching Sunday school at St. Paul Lutheran Church, volunteering at the Suicide Hotline, Cares, Big Brothers / Sisters. and working at the Davenport Public Library. She was an avid gardener, with a gift for bringing out the life in every plant she touched. Her love for traveling took her to many corners of the world, broadening her worldview and enriching her life. She made a cross-country trek to the World's Fair with her father and her children in '64. Later in life, she and her husband George of 37 years traveled across the US in their motorhome. They loaded the motor home on a train and toured Mexico. Arlene loved experiencing new things and never lost her sense of wonder. Dancing was huge in her life. She and husband George reached the highest level in the Square Dancing world. She loved hiking and was a life time member at the Blackhawk Hiking club. At the age of 87 she flew to French Polynesia to be with her son and experience the Pacific.
Survivors include her brother, Vernon Klindt, her two children, David (wife Wendy) Kall and Susan (husband Tim) McClanahan, grandchildren Paul (wife Brynne) McClanahan and Amanda (husband Sven) Scheffler, four lovely great-granddaughters, and her dearest friend Vicki Kurtz Duncan. Arlene was preceded in death by her parents and husbands, Albert Kall in 1956 and George Fox in 2012.
Arlene's life was a testament to her strength, resilience, and unwavering spirit. She lived every moment to the fullest, embracing new experiences, and cherishing her loved ones. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but her spirit will live on in the memories of those whose lives she touched.
Memorials may be made in her name to St. Paul Lutheran Church; Davenport, or a charity of your choice. Service at Mausoleum Memorial Park Cemetery Friday the 21st at 10 am. Friends and Family welcome.
