FISHER, Victor John – 65, Dutch Settlement, Nova Scotia, passed away quietly in his sleep at home on the 29th November 2012. Born in Halifax, he was the son of the late Harold and Myrtle (King) Fisher. He is survived by a daughter Heather ( Mrs. Nathan Sherwood), Dutch Settlement and a son Scott Fisher, Dartmouth; his two brothers Ernest and Eric Fisher, Dartmouth; stepmother, Gloria Fisher, Dartmouth; and by his two grandchildren Ethan and Anabel Sherwood, Dutch Settlement. He is predeceased by a brother, Robert Fisher. He was a Boy Scout leader and had an interest in local history. He graduated from Saint Mary’s University, suma cum laude. He had a passion for teaching and made a career working with international students helping them to obtain English as a Second Language. He loved his children and grandchildren, animals and the out of doors. His sense of humor was known to all he met. He will be sadly missed by his children and grandchildren, family, friends and students.
The family will receive friends on Friday, 14th December 2012, from 2:00 -4:00PM and 6:00-8:00PM at A.L. Mattatall Funeral Home, 217 Portland Street, Dartmouth. A funeral service celebrating his life will be held at the same location the following day on Saturday 15th December 2012 at 11:00AM, reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association, Bide Awhile Animal Shelter, 67 Neptune Crescent, Dartmouth or the Hope for Wildlife Society.
