POIRIER, Muriel C. - Age 92, passed away July 22, 2016 in the Ocean View Continuing Care Centre. She was the daughter of the late Aaron and Irene (Stone) Grandy. She served in the Canadian Armed Forces, from 1942-45, as a chef to the officers. She discharged with the rank of leading airwoman. She was an active member of the Waverley legion and the Bedford legion for many years, receiving numerous awards. She loved cats, and she enjoyed playing darts, crib, knitting, doing crossword puzzles and jigsaw puzzles. She lived in Bedford Manor for 30 years and made many good friends there. She loved going to the family cottage and trailer in New Brunswick, which she had done several times every summer except 1 for 70 years. She liked to travel, taking several big Bangor bingo and shopping tours, two trips to Vancouver, and a trip to Newfoundland with the ladies from the Bedford legion kitchen, and a solo flight to Saskatchewan at age 85 and then she and Sue drove Donnie's ashes home. She is survived by her brother Victor (Marjorie), sister; Mabel Webb, daughter Irene Cooper, granddaughter Hope MacKenzie, and daughter-in-law, Sue Barrett-Poirier, as well as six other grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her siblings Max, Wallace, Don and Evelyn. Also her husband Art "Frenchy", sons; Jimmy, Blair, and Donnie. Also daughter in-laws Corinne and Gail, grandson Jeff and granddaughter Wendy Lou. A Celebration of Muriel's life will be held on Friday, July 29, 4:00pm at the Bedford Legion.
