It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Mike Steven Sarafinchan. Mike passed away at home Monday, December 9, 2024.
Mike was predeceased by parents Mike and Dora, Thorold, Ontario; brother Eli (aka Leo) Ontario; sister Margaret, Ontario; his loving wife of over thirty years Ethel (Conrod) Sarafinchan; stepdaughter Sandra and stepsons Harold and Gerald (Joe).
Mike is survived by his daughter Diane (aka Robin)(Steve), Toronto, Ontario; stepdaughter Wendy (Doug) Ritchie, Eastern Passage, Nova Scotia and stepson Jeffrey (Brenda), Edmonton, Alberta.
Mike was a member of the Royal Canadian Navy for 23 years. During that time he served aboard HMCS Magnificent, HMCS Bonaventure, HMCS Skeena and USS Wasp. Upon his retirement from the Navy he went to work at Autoport in eastern Passage, Nova Scotia and was an operations manager for three years. The last job he held and retired from was at Farmers Dairy, Hammonds Plains, Nova Scotia where for 11 years he held the position of Chief Engineer.
Mike was also a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Caen Branch 164 in Eastern Passage.
Mike lived a long life during which time he was a hard worker and had many accomplishments over the years. He enjoyed telling stories of his time in the Navy. He also enjoyed the many, many get-togethers over the years with family and friends. He and Ethel shared a love for dogs and he had a special little friend “Jacob” who loved and followed him everywhere and who was his best buddy until the end.
Mike has requested that there be no service. Mike will be buried at sea at a later date.

A son, husband, father, uncle, stepgrandad and friend to many. You will be missed by us all.
