It is with profound sadness and shock that we announce the passing of Matt Waterman on August 17, 2022, at the age of 36.
We have lost a beloved son, partner, brother, nephew, friend, and colleague—but have gained a 6’6” guardian angel.
Matt had a larger-than-life presence—both in height and in personality. He was generous to a fault with a classic British sense of humour. He was passionate about international travel, scuba-diving, Land Rovers, and a proper cup of tea. An avid outdoorsman and talented handyman, you could usually find Matt outdoors with the love of his life, Anthea, or tinkering in his meticulously organized garage. Committed and passionate about his career as a Systems Safety and Environmental Engineer manager, Matt gave his all to his job, and to his work team.
Hailing from Fareham, Hampshire, UK, Matt chose Nova Scotia, Canada as his home and was delighted to have received his permanent residency last year.
He leaves to mourn parents (Pauline and David Waterman), sisters (Hannah Rolfe and Victoria Waterman), partner (Anthea Allan), and a large circle of family and friends. We are left broken-hearted, cherishing memories of happier times, and proud to have known such a formidable man. We hope he has found peace and respite from the pain he carried.
Donations to the Canadian Mental Health Association - Nova Scotia Division’s Suicide Prevention Fund (https://novascotia.cmha.ca/) are gratefully accepted in Matt’s memory.
