Of Dartmouth, Mom passed away May 15, 2018. We will always remember her as a sweet, kind person who was most content when she was helping and comforting others. Born May 25, 1928 in Belle Falls, Quebec, she was the second of six children born to Bessie and Tom McMahon. She worked in administrative support at the CBC in Montreal and she would often talk about the time she met a young Rene Levesque and had a dance with Pierre Trudeau. He didn’t manage to charm her though since she became and remained a staunch Conservative right till the end. She also worked at the Dartmouth School Board where she made many lifelong friends. Mom lost her husband Jack far too early in June of 1998. She is survived by son Ron (Marilyn) Ogilvie of Coleman, Alberta and daughter Lynn (Bob) Guscott of Wellington, NS. She was a very proud and loving Nanny to Naomi (Rado) Grega of Kosice, Slovakia and Sam (Nicole) Guscott of Enfield, NS as well as Nanny Joan to her great grandchildren Ben, Izy and Ellie Grega and Lily, Jake and Natalie Guscott. Also remembered by Marilyn’s children; daughter Andrea Thompson, granddaughter Bridgette and son Richard Brittain. She is survived by siblings Jim McMahon (Nancy), Jean Templeton, Bob McMahon (Barb) and Helen Bigelow. Also by Jack’s sisters Bobbie (Hazel) McFaul and Jean Bartlett and a large extended family of nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her eldest brother John, wife Eleanor, brother-in-laws Murray and Cecil, several of Jacks family. Mom will be missed by her many close friends in her Parkland and church community and beyond and by her bridge partners and special friends Shirley and Marian. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Stairs Memorial Church, Dartmouth or to a charity of your choice. Remembrance service will take place in Stairs Memorial Church, Hester Street, Dartmouth on Friday, May 25th at 11am. Mom’s ashes will be buried alongside Dad’s in a quiet country churchyard in Howick, Quebec. Online condolences may be viewed or sent to: www.mattatallfuneralhome.com
