Gerard Joseph MacNeil

Gerard spent his early working years with IGA and then with Irving. He lovingly took on the role of caregiver to his mother, Esther MacNeil in the later months of her life. Gerard was kind and caring and always quick with a joke.

Gerard is survived by his son Brett James Ernest Gillis of Charlottetown, PEI, his brothers Donald MacNeil and Tom MacNeil (Sue) of Dartmouth, and brother Mark MacNeil (Rose) of Houston, Texas and Patrick MacNeil (Kathy) of Victoria, BC.

He is also survived by sisters, Jane MacNeil of Calgary, Alberta, Catherine MacNeil (Nathalie) of Spry Bay, NS and Theresa MacNeil of Thunder Bay, ON.

Gerard will be missed by his nieces and nephews, Emily, Laura and Erin MacNeil, Ryan and Matthew MacNeil, Stephen and Christopher Sherlock and Ali Johnson.

He is predeceased by his parents Donald J. and Catherine Esther MacNeil and brother Stephen John MacNeil.

A Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 10th at A.L. Mattatall Funeral Home (217 Portland St., Dartmouth) from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, a donation to the charity of your choice in Gerards memory would be greatly appreciated.

Gerard will be sadly missed by family and friends.
