JORDAN, Francis – 90 of Dartmouth, passed away peacefully on September 6, 2019 in the Halifax Infirmary Q E II. Born in Kilmarnock, Scotland, he was the son of the late Frank and Louise (Cripps) Jordan. Francis stepped off the ship from England in Montreal in 1956 and was employed with the National Research Council. He was transferred to the Bedford Institute of Oceanography in 1970 where he stayed until his retirement in 1994. He had a distinction of never having an unpaid day in Canada. Francis was a lifelong motorcycle rider and enjoyed collecting stamps, coins and watches. In his earlier years, he enjoyed sailing, table tennis and gliding. Francis looked forward to his outings to the Second Cup on Portland Street with the crew. He is survived by his sons; Iain and Bruce, grandson; Peter, Great-grandchildren; Kingston and Willow, a niece Danielle, and nephews Laurie, Franklyn and Laslo. He was predeceased by his loving wife; Shirley, daughter; Jane and sister; June. Cremation has taken place and there will be a visitation from 1-4pm on Sunday, September 15, 2019 in A. L. Mattatall Funeral Home. Burial will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Special thank you to the Nurses of 5.1 and 7.1 of the Halifax Infirmary Q E II for making Dad as comfortable as possible during his stay.
