FRASER, Cora – 66, of Porter’s Lake, surrounded by her family, went home to be with her Lord and Saviour on Sunday, July 29, 2012. Born in North Preston on July 27, 1946, she was a daughter of the late Edward and Florence (James) Simmonds. She was a long-standing member of Saint Thomas United Baptist Church, Women’s Missionary Society, and the Senior’s Choir. She was a compassionate and patient person – one who loved life. Cora was a true child of the King. Her dedication in serving the Lord left no doubt to those who came in contact with her. Her compassion for others was displayed by her friends, ranging in ages from the very young to those who were older. She was the type of person who walked the walk and talked the talk. Cora was a loving and dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She is survived by her husband, James Fraser; daughters Coralyn (Dartmouth), Nanette (Brampton); son James (Tanoon, Brampton); grandchildren Natasha Lyn Myles (Ottawa), Taijah & Jala Fraser (Brampton); Richard States (special nephew/son); godchildren Karen Vaillancourt, Jillian Smith, and Marla Kelly (Texas), & Neil MacLean Jr. (Ontario); sisters Blanche (Joseph) Czernon, Sheila States, Stella Vaillancourt, Mary (Howard) Williams, Lois Bruer (Virginia), Julie (Danny) Smith, Juliette (Rodney) Thomas; brothers Gilbert Simmonds and Ernest (Irma) Simmonds; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and many many friends. She was predeceased by step-grandson Rickardo; brothers Victor (Oneita), Leon (Louise), Wildred (Gloria), Eric, and Edward Jr.; sisters Olga (Nelson) Henry. As per her wishes, there will be no wake or repast. Visitation will be held on Wed., August 1, 2012, from 2 pm – 4 pm at A.L. Mattatall Funeral Home at 217 Portland Street in Dartmouth, and on Thurs., August 2nd from 10 am – 12:30 pm at Saint Thomas United Baptist Church. Funeral service will follow on Thursday, August 2 at 1 pm, with Rev. Wallace Smith officiating at the Saint Thomas Baptist Church.
