Thomas M. Corbett age 67 of New Fairfield, died on Friday November 16th at his home. He was the husband of Margaret “Peggy” (Zanzal) Corbett. Tom was born in Danbury July 19, 1945, the son of the late John J. and Margaret (Moran) Corbett. He was a graduate of Danbury High School, and a member of the first graduating class of Sacred Heart University in 1967, where he received his Bachelor’s Degree in Business.
Tom was employed for 37 years with the Town of New Milford School System as its Director of Operations, retiring five years ago. Following his retirement, he served as the Third Selectman for the Town of New Fairfield for two years. A resident of New Fairfield for 36 years, Tom was a parishioner of St. Edward the Confessor Church, and was a 26 year volunteer with the American Red Cross as a disaster relief coordinator.
In addition to his wife Peggy, Tom is survived by two sons: Patrick F. Corbett of Stamford and Brendan M. Corbett of Virginia, two sisters in law: Jeanne Corbett of California, and Susan Jones of West Haven, one brother in law: John Zanzal of New Fairfield, one granddaughter: Sophia Corbett, and several nieces and nephews. Tom was predeceased by his brother John Corbett.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday November 21st at 10:30am in St. Edward the Confessor Church, New Fairfield. Burial will be in St. Peter Cemetery, Danbury. The family will receive friends on Tuesday November 20th at the Green Funeral Home 57 Main Street Danbury from 5 thru 8pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are requested to be made to the American Red Cross CT Chapter Dept. 105004, P.O. Box 5003, Hartford, CT 06102.
