Teresa Villella born May 9, 1934 has passed away peacefully on May, 8, 2016. Originally from, Decollatura, Catanzaro, Italy. Teresa was the second child of Natale Perri and Rachela Scalzo Perri. In Italy she worked at a children's home in La Sila and helped support her family. She is survived by her sisters Angela Costanzo of Melbourne, Australia, Yolanda Cimino of Danbury, Alba Scalise of Florida, Vanda Soper of Colchester and Emma Goetz of Southbury. She also leaves several nieces and nephews. Teresa joined her mother here in Danbury in 1954 with her father and 4 younger sisters travelling by steamship from Naples, Italy. She started working in the Danbury Shirt Factory attaching buttons. She worked to help support her family until she returned to Italy to marry. As a homemaker, she raised 5 children with her late husband, Frank Villella. Her family will always remember her wonderful home cooked meals and devotion to her children, Patricia Villella of Danbury, Phillip Villella who predeceased her, Gregory Villella of Martinez, California, Frank Villella and Sue Comstock Villella of Las Vegas, and Rachel and Joe Almeida of Brookfield. She also leaves behind four grandchildren, Rebecca Almeida, Steven Almeida, Andrew Almeida and Angela Villella. Teresa enjoyed tending the family vegetable garden and making homemade soppressate and capicolla when she was younger. She preserved her garden vegetables for consumption in winter months. Her favorite pastimes were watching Spanish and Italian language television programs. Despite her 2 years of elementary schooling, Teresa also enjoyed reading Italian novels. She inspired and shared her culinary arts with her children or anyone else that wanted to learn how to cook a particular dish. Family will receive friends at the Green Funeral Home on Main Street in Danbury on Wednesday, May 11th between the hours of 4 and 8 p.m. Funeral Mass will take place at St. Gregorys Church in Danbury on Thursday at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at Saint Peter's Cemetery.
