Richard “RJ” Frey, Jr, 26, of Danbury died suddenly on March 27, 2017 at Danbury Hospital. RJ was born in Bridgeport, CT on September 12, 1990, a son of Denise (Dee) DiMauro of Ansonia and Richard Frey, Sr. of Danbury. RJ graduated from Bethel High School in 2008. He worked at Walgreens in Danbury from 2008-2015 and Best Buy from 2015 till his death.
RJ's passion was sports with his favorite NASCAR driver Jeff Gordon and teams the New York Yankees, New York Jets and New York Rangers. He will be remembered for his infectious smile and laugh. Always willing to help others, he is continuing to do so as an organ donor. Many lives have been touched by his spirit and generosity. He will continue to live on in helping others.
Besides his parents, RJ is survived by his brother, Robert (Robbie), and sister, Cathryn, (Cathy) of Danbury, his grandmother, Philomena DiMauro; aunt/uncle Chris and Rick Alcutt; cousins Jessica Simonetti and Mike Alcutt. Many additional cousins and friends also survive. RJ was predeceased by his grandparents, Lucille and Ron White and Larry DiMauro; and his great grandfather Luco DeMeo.
A Memorial Gathering for family and friends to celebrate RJ's life will be held on Saturday, April 1, 2017 from 12pm-3pm at the Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St., Danbury. Sports team jerseys or tee shirts may be worn to celebrate RJ's life and love of sports.
